Ways to Interpret:

When I listen to lyrics of a song, I relate them to my life.  It is an amazing feeling when you hear a song that expresses how you feel when you cannot find the words yourself.  It helps me deal with upsetting situations, it helps me praise happy thoughts, and it helps me cope with sad instances that occur in my life.  Music can be very deep and can help people escape from their problems.

Here are some sites that may give you another way to look at music and its words that speak to you…

http://www.medieval.org/emfaq/misc/progress.html - This site describes the improving and blazoning of interpreting music lyrics. It discusses history of music and how people’s thoughts have changed over the years.

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/1217/interpret.html - This Web site discusses how one interprets lyrics and whether or not there is a right way in which to do so.

http://www.itl.usyd.edu.au/GraduateAttributes/facultyGA.cfm?faculty=Sydney%20Conservatorium%20of%20Music
- This site provides information about the details and
intellectual side of music interpretation.

Also, I had the opportunity to interview 3 talented songwriters that I happen to know personally.  I got some very interesting and deep thoughts.

Just from hearing their views, I already see music lyrics from a different perspective: from inside the person holding the pen who collaborated and wrote the words. It was a great experience for me to ask them about their work.  I have them here for you to read and contemplate.
